Capacity Building of Local Peace Actors on Conflict-Sensitive Management and Stress Management: SELP ASBL Prioritizes Efficiency and Effective Humanitarian Responses

As part of the project to build the capacities of local peace actors on social cohesion in the Nyiragongo and Goma areas, funded by MONUSCO and implemented by Africa Reconciled, Solidarité pour l’Encadrement et Lutte contre la Pauvreté (SELP ASBL) strengthened its active participation in a strategic workshop from January 28 to 29, 2026.

Represented by our programs department, two crucial themes for our field interventions were analyzed:

    1. Planning and management of conflict-sensitive projects:

In this point, we reaffirmed the importance of integrating the “Do No Harm” (working without causing harm) and NEXUS approaches into our peacebuilding planning and actions, especially in sensitive contexts. It is important to address urgent, priority needs that also promote community cohesion and the development of our community. As part of our commitment, we ensure that each project strengthens social cohesion and stability rather than exacerbating divisions.

  1. Stress and trauma management:
Humanitarian work is demanding, and so we explored stress management mechanisms, including “vicarious trauma,” which affects those who help others, such as humanitarian workers. Through emotional stabilization exercises, our teams are better equipped to remain resilient.

Our gratitude to the organizers.
