SELP ASBL reaffirms its commitment to promoting clean and renewable energy

SELP ASBL reaffirms its commitment to promoting clean and renewable energy

On the occasion of International Clean Energy Day, celebrated every January 26, SELP ASBL reaffirms its strong and lasting commitment to a fair, inclusive, and environmentally friendly energy transition.

This day, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (through resolution 77/327), aims to raise awareness and mobilize actors around the world on the need for a transition to clean energy for the benefit of both people and the planet.

It also coincides with the founding date of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), established in 2009 to support countries in their energy transition and encourage international cooperation in this field.

Clean energy: is a lever for social justice and sustainable development

In a world facing the climate crisis and growing energy inequalities, access to clean, reliable and affordable energy remains a major challenge.
Today, according to the United Nations, more than 666 million people still do not have access to electricity, 85% of them in sub-Saharan Africa. This energy deficit hinders socio-economic development and directly affects the education, health and quality of life of millions of families.

Aware of this reality in our communities, SELP ASBL works to promote sustainable energy solutions, including through community initiatives, awareness programs and strategic partnerships to encourage the use of renewable energies such as solar, wind and biomass.
These initiatives aim to provide rural and vulnerable populations with a clean and accessible alternative, while while reducing dependence on polluting fossil fuels.

This being the seventh Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 7), which calls for ensuring universal access to reliable, sustainable, and modern energy services at an affordable cost by 2030, it is within this framework that SELP ASBL aligns itself with this global goal by developing initiatives for the well-being of our communities and the planet.

A lasting commitment to the planet and future generations:

For SELP ASBL, adopting renewable energy not only reduces the carbon footprint, but also builds a safer and fairer future for generations to come.

Energy from the sun, wind, water, and geothermal heat are inexhaustible resources that SELP ASBL aims to harness for the benefit of local development. Moreover, the organization emphasizes the need to improve energy efficiency by encouraging responsible consumption practices and technological innovations adapted to the African context.

That is why, on this International Day of Clean Energy, SELP ASBL reaffirms its leading role in promoting sustainable, fair, and environmentally friendly energy, as it benefits both the present and future generations.

Through its actions, the SELP organization aims to inspire a collective movement towards a greener, more self-sufficient, and more resilient world in the face of climate challenges.

Because promoting clean energy is investing in life, justice, and the future.
